Getting the financial support you need
During the past few months, many people’s lives have been turned upside down by Coronavirus. Here at the East Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau, we’ve been helping where we can to ease the pressure put on the community. We’ve aimed to ensure that you are aware of all the financial support you are entitled to.
In the first 18 weeks of the pandemic, up to the 3rd May 2020, 319 people in East Dunbartonshire tested positive for Covid-19. Sadly, 69 of those died. Every death is tragic, but it is important to look at what is happening from a distance. This shows that the death rate of East Dunbartonshire residents is just a little bit higher this year than compared with previous years.
Unfortunately for many, life continues to be a struggle. However our services have remained available to everyone who needs them throughout this crisis. Whilst we have shut our doors, we’ve still been working in the office, answering phones, emails and letters to make sure nobody slips through the cracks. We’ve helped people apply for benefits that they are entitled to, and help with any queries about payment holidays or other solutions to their problems.
We’re still here for you
We’ve had to change the way we do things, from social distancing in the office to working from home when we can. But we’ve never let the quality of our service slip, because it’s important that we care about those in the community who need our help.
If you are looking for some advice, whether about your financial situation during Coronavirus or advice on paying bills, there are various ways you can still speak to us.
How to get in touch with EDCAB
How have we been making sure that everyone who needs us can speak to us? Most people are used to being able to pop in for a chat or make an appointment. This, of course, had to stop to ensure the virus didn’t spread, and to keep our staff and customers safe. So we have been using our online chat functionality more. If you are online and looking to chat to someone online, then this is a great system to use. You get to communicate directly with one of us in real-time, and we can hopefully solve your problem quickly. This is ideal if you have just a quick query, or want to check something with us. Just click on the little green circle at the lower right corner of our website.
We can speak with you over the phone, helping you as we normally would in person. So if you have any questions about benefits, your rights or help filling out forms, we can still help you with that. Just give us a call on 0141 775 3220. Keep in mind you might need to hold on the line for a little bit longer than normal.
Helping you through this time
This is a new and uncertain time for all of us. Many more people than ever before are on Universal Credit in Scotland, and other benefits too. Many people have needed to speak to us for the first time for advice. This is why we are keeping as many communication channels open as possible.
Don’t let the Coronavirus pandemic put you off getting in touch with us. We’re available and happy to discuss any financial support questions you may have, or any other topic that is cause for concern. Get in touch today.
